Poland: Suempol acquires Marcel Baey
Tuesday, 12 November 2013 00:00

Suempol, the second largest Polish smoked-salmon producer, has acquired the French firm Marcel Baey, headquartered in Boulogne-sur-Mer. With the acquisition, Suempol hopes to strengthen Marcel Baey’s position in the premium segment and introduce traditional technology in other European markets. The technology consists of cutting the product manually and allowing long periods for maturing, drying, and smoking. These techniques increase product value to a level that is impossible to achieve with other methods. Suempol estimates that, thanks to the investment, sales for Suempol Sas, France will reach EUR 60 million annually. Source: Fish Industry Magazine, mprfish.com
